BARTLEY HALF COUSINS ONE

     Our first Bartley family cousins are actually half-cousins. That is because our own 5th Great Grandmother, Marry [Henna] Bartley had only one child, a daughter named Mary Bartley who became our 4th Great Grandmother. Our 'half-cousins' of this generation all come from our 5th Great Grandfather's marriage to Elizabeth Hancock, who would be our Step-5th Great Grandmother. They had a number of children, half aunts and uncles, by whom we have many half cousins. I will start by a simple family pedigree to as a reminder of who those half aunts and uncles are and from where those half cousin families descend from.

John Bartley and Elizabeth Karkeek Family

It does appear that Elizabeth Karkeek it Elizabeth Carkeet the daughter of Nicholas and Alice Carkeet of St Ewe near Gorran. Again it seems to be a case of phonetic spelling of a surname likely spoken with some type of local Cornwall accent. The family of Nicholas and Alice Carkeet/Carkeete(KarkeekK) consists of Elizabeth (1638), Rebecca (1641), William (1644), Nicholas (1646), Stephen (1654), Samuell (1656), and Nathanyell (1658). And perhaps one who researches this family ought to consider the possibility of a second wife being the mother of the last three sons. The run of only 4 children would appear to be linked to Elizabeth's age at the time of marriage at about age 36 (37-45).

Dorothy Lagor is the daughter of James and Anne Lagor of Veryan. The known children of this family are Dorothy (1762), Jane (1764), John (1765), James (1768) all whose baptism are recorded at Veryan.

William Bartley and Sophia Warmington

The parents of Sophia Warmington are Richard and Mary Warmington of St Columb Major. The known children of this family are Richard Warmington (1785), John Warmington (1786), as the first Richard may have died there is Richard Warmington (1787), Ann Warmington (1788), William Warmington (1789), Maria Warmington (1791), Harriot Warmington (1792) and finally Sophia Warmington (1794). This children's baptism are all recorded at St Columb Major.

 Tregony. They report two sons, William Bartley, born 10 June 1850, Houghton, South Australia,
 Australia and George Andrew Bartley, born 15 November 1855, Houghton Lodge, South Australia,
