Cousin Families from John Hender and Grace Luskey/LiskeyCompiled and Annotated by Don R. HenderThe family of John Hender and Grace Luskey may be the only surviving 'Hender' family of the Thomas Hender and Elizabeth Northy family group. There is Elizabeth Hender, who married John Venning, who has descendants, but they have some unsettling questions that revolve around those attributed cousin families. In considering the cousins from John Hender and Grace Luskey, some of those concerns will be put forth as there may be some duplication of cousins between the two cousin pages of John Hender and his father Thomas Hender. In either case the likelihood is that they are still 'cousins', but it would be nice to fit them into the family where they properly fit.As with the other Hender cousin pages we will begin with a simplified family pedigree of John Hender and Grace Luskey with those cousin families which descend from them. It should be noted that their four children are those four Hender grand children who are named in the will of Thomas Hender, John's father. John had just preceded his father in death a few months prior to his father's death, thus John was not named in Thomas Hender's will, but his wife and children were. And these would be John's only four children as he had preceded his father in death and his father had named all four of John's children in his will.

^^ There has been another daughter of William Hender, Surgeon found, also most likely the daughter of Elizabeth Bury, but a birth or Christening has not been found that fits, unless the baptism for Elizabeth Hender of 1798 was transcribed incorrectly. In 1798, William Hender, Surgeon was but about 13 years of age, being baptized in 1786, which spacing with his sister's births/baptisms and his parent's marriage does not allow him to have been any older. If the Callington baptism for Elizabeth Hender of 1798 is a decade or over off-1808/1810, then it would possibly fit either before her brother William Bury Hender's birth in 1809 or it could be between the births of William Bury Hender (1809) and Annabella Hender (1812). Elizabeth Hender's parish marriage entry details lists her father as William Hender, Surgeon. So there are my best suppositions. Now to think that Catherine Hender, grand daughter of John Hender and Grace Lusky, would marry the son of her great aunt Elizabeth Hender and John Venning seems to be pushing the genealogical deductions a bit far. That the previous suggested cousins connects on the previous cousins page has two James Vennings and two Elizabeth Vennings as sons and daughters of Elizabeth Hender and John Venning is also suspect. That the very common names of John and Elizabeth would rather mean that there were two separate and distinct John Vennings with a wife named Elizabeth would seem more likely than to push that Catherine Hender married her own cousin, James Venning. Certainly there were more than one James Vennings about than to have to do that. And so now there evidence that there were two James Vinnings as both are mentioned in the same land dealings with William Hender (Surgeon) of Callington and Dr. Humphry Bryant in respect to the estate at Treween. In that 'National Archive' record both the James Vinning of Altarnun and the James Vinning of South Petherwin are named in the same paragraph. Now all is left is to sort out which one is which, and that will have the answer in it that Catherine Hender DID NOT marry her near cousin but the other one. So I'll have to look to sort that out now I guess. Now the OPC has no listing for a James Venning baptism in South Petherwin. And too boot, there are actually three James Venning baptisms in Altarnun of three differing parents in Altarnun. Now further Treween is situated between a about equal distance from Altarnun and South Petherwin. Perhaps one of the three Altarnun James Venning baptism is for James of South Petherwin. IF not there there are four James Vennings in the game. What Genalogical fun! One might presume that since Catherine Hender and James Venning named one of their sons Daniel, then the James Venning, son of Daniel and Mary Venning is Catherine's James Venning.Now the James Venning and Catherine Hender family cousins do continue on to produce even more cousins. And so does the William Bury Hender descendant cousins whose brief pedigree from the 1871/1861 census I will now present below. But that starts with William Hender who married Elizabeth Bury.

Due to the long absence of availability of the Callington Parish records and thenthe difficulty in locating the actual marriage record of Crediton, Devon, various William Hender families have been confused and group together into one mixed error of a family grouping. Here now is the actual Crediton Parish record of the marriage between William Hender and Elizabeth Bury. And then the now OPC Parish of Callington entries will follow a simple displied pedigree chart.

William Bury Hender and Eliza Philips Rose Ann Bone FamilyNow whether her name is Eliza Roseann Philips Bone as the 1851 Census would suggest, or Eliza Philips Roseann Bone as the 1861 Census could suggest, seems but little to be concerned with. With all those names in the middle, one might as will list her full first name to be Elizabeth rather than just Eliza, which itself may have been truncated because of the length of it all. What is the facts of the matter is that she was a Lawyer's [that is a Solicitor's] daughter and her sister was Maria F Bone. And she was born in Stoke Damerel Devon, which is also referenced merely as being Plymouth, Devon for indeed Stoke Damerel is a part of and lies in the greater Plymouth, Devon community. These greater details of sorting out the census decade facts and Callington, Cornwall source of the family of William Bury Hender is presented upon these two other pages concerning William Bury Hender himself and how he has been falsely arrived at by other upon the internet and genealogical scene.
